Resorts SOLITUDE MOUNTAIN RESORT
Far from the crowds at other resorts, 12 miles up Big Cottonwood Canyon is a whole different world where the sense of calm and peacefulness might be described assolitude. Solitude Mountain Resort has been operating for more than 50 years afterthe first skiers descended off the slopes of Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon. Over 1,200 acres of uncrowded terrain -- including Honeycomb Canyon -- and a European style-lodging village, with vertical of 2,047 ft. Solitude has eight lifts, including one high-speed quad, one fixed quad, two triple chairs, and four double chairs.
Lodging Information:Whether you prefer the ease of Creekside Lodge's quick slope access, the elegance of the Powderhorn Lodge, the majestic views of Eagle Springs East and West, the spacious town homes at The Crossings, or the slopeside mountain lodge and first-class hotel experience of the Inn at Solitude, it's hard to go wrong here. Along with extra amenities such as Club Solitude, each accommodation offers unique style and service while still capturing the true spirit of Solitude.
Recreation Information:Solitude Nordic Center offers 20 kilometers of groomed track, guided backcountry tours andice skating.
Cross Country Information:The Nordic Center offers nearly 20 kilometers of prepared trails set for both classic and skating styles of Nordic skiing. The Day Lodge provides visitors with ski and snowshoe rentals, lessons and light snacks to guided snowshoe tours.
Services:With the one-stop-shopping approach of the Children's Academy, you can find most anything you need under one roof. A fun atmosphere and small group sizes helps children improve their technique and develop more confidence on the snow. The fun and learning isn't limited to children, as the adult workshops, lessons and private sessions are beneficial at any age. Solitude offers dining options suitable for every palate. Creekside Restaurant offers flavors inspired by the Tuscan region of Italy in a family-friendly fine-dining setting, while St. Bernard's serves award-winning country French cuisine. For the adventurous diner, try a Nordic ski or snowshoe trek to the Yurt. The Stone Haus is open all day, every day, providing quick meal and beverage choices. On the mountain, the dining options at Moonbeam Lodge, Last Chance Mining Camp and the Sunshine Grill satisfy any hunger. The perfect finish to a day of Solitude can be enjoyed apres ski at The Thirsty Squirrel and Argenta Pub.
